On April 26, 2013 we will have our first Bridge to College Male symposium; 250 males will visit Brooklyn College and our theme will be "What is your destination?", scheduled to be in attendance is John Brown, Acting Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities;Seth Edwards, Vice President of Community Relations at JP Morgan Chase; Dr. John B. King Jr. Commissioner of Education and President of the University of the State of New York; Dennis M. Walcott, Chancellor of the New York City Department of Education and Dr. Lester W. Young Jr., Member of New York State Board of Regents.
Our Bridge to College Male Symposium supports our year long focus on new strategies to increase college and career readiness for our black and Latino young men. Our proposals focused on three areas: academics, youth development and school culture.
