Overloads are not to be allowed on grant accounts.
General Overload Information:
Overloads are paid for any additional LEH’s taught, above the base contract.
In departments where courses are structured differently, this may result in faculty always getting overload pay.
For example, in Electronics, where classes are 5.25 LEH each because of labs, this results in a standard 9-month contract actually totaling 31.5 LEH’s. In this case the faculty member would receive their base salary for the 30 LEH’s of the contract, and 1.5 LEH in overload pay.
Overloads are paid based on the adjunct faculty scale. This is a completely different scale than the full-time faculty salary scale, so contact HR to confirm an individual’s adjunct rate.
The adjunct rate is less than the regular LEH rate.
