AWEBUC04: AMDS-Web Visualization

Goal: Provide two visualizations in the form of a map representative of the patient demographic area selected and a time series of aggregate counts by day for the date range selected.

Actors: Public Health Investigator

Preconditions: User has appropriate rights and privileges to discover phGRID services through AMDS-Web

Success condition: Display a map and time series with aggregate syndrome counts from selected phGRID services.

Scenario Progression:

1. A Google map is shown for the patient demographic area and specified date range that was queried using the AMDS-web query builder. The patient demographic area chosen will be shaded according to a user defined threshold that is set by the actor in accordance with the aberration detection method chosen through the AMDS-web query builder. Aggregate counts highlighted in green are not statistically significant, yellow indicates counts just below statistical significance, and red indicates counts that have surpassed the statistical significance threshold (e.g. 4 SD units away from the mean) established by the aberration detection method of choice.

2. A chart is displayed that shows each day as a data point with time on the x-axis and syndrome count number on the y-axis with a line connecting all data points. Depending upon which aberration detection method is queried for the visualized phGRID service, the time series chart will indicate statistically significant counts with a star on the respective syndrome count. The time series will be rendered as a pop-up over the selected patient demographic area (see attached example).
