Grid Node Installation Procedures



VMware Install   (Virtual Machine)  - for Microsoft Windows (XP, Vista, 2003, etc), Linux, Mac OSX (intel processor only, using VMWare Fusion)


Hardware Requirements:

CPU: Intel Pentium Core 2 or Better

Disk space: 1.5 Gigabytes for VDT/Windows, 10GB for VM

Memory: 2 Gigabytes


Network Requirements:

Hostname: Internet resolvable fully qualified domain name (Note: Software issues using NAT)

Network Location: DMZ (Additional ports needed for nodes behind firewalls)


Firewall Ports:

443/TCP inbound (Web Services) (some configurations choose to use 8443 for inbound web services)


The following firewall ports are optional. Open the ports for the services that will be consumed at your site.

2119/TCP inbound (Job Manager)

2135/TCP inbound (Grid Resources Information Service)

2811/TCP inbound/outbound (GridFTP Control Channel)

50000 – 51000 TCP inbound/outbound (GridFTP Data Channel)

Note: The port range can be increased or decreased based on the projected number of  concurrent users. (I.E 50000 - 50034) 

7512/TCP inbound (MyProxy X.509 Credentials Service)
