GIPSE Standard

The Geocoded Interoperable Population Summary Exchange (GIPSE) standard- formerly the Aggregate Minimum Data Set (AMDS) currently has several versions in existence, created by different groups:

    • GIPSE 8/31 - This is the xml schema definition used by the GIPSEService. It was developed by the PHGrid team with some input from the Centers of Excellence (specifically Washington, Harvard, JHU-APL) and the RODS Lab. This definition is stored in the google code repository. The standard is documented on this wiki.
    • H1N1 Data Format v0.7 - This is a light CSV format based on the ISDS data use agreement. It is being used by CDC and DiSTRIBuTE to collect data for H1N1 surveillance. It is stored on this wiki.
    • H1N1 Composite Indicator Format - This is another CSV format created for sharing data between CDC and DiSTRIBuTE that includes dynamic indicator sets and specific jurisdiction codes. It is stored on this wiki.
    • The HIE GIPSE format v1.0.2 - This is an XML and CSV based format developed by the CDC HIE projects. I do not know the location of this document online, but it can be access by contacting the CDC HIE Coordinator.

Historically, PHGrid began to develop this standard as a minimum technical standard to allow for PHGrid partners to implement web services able to syntactically and semantically interoperate. The data contained within the specification is based on Ross Lazarus' post on the Harvard ESP blog.

GIPSE has been discussed extensively on the phgrid blog here (15 posts) and here (47 posts) (back when it was called AMDS).

Ken Hall is the contact for the GIPSE standards.
