AWEBUC01: AMDS-Web Query Builder

Goal: Provide necessary selection criteria through drop-downs and check boxes allowing user to display available phGRID services.

Actors: Public Health Investigator

Preconditions: User has appropriate rights and privileges to discover phGRID services through AMDS-Web

Success condition: Submission of meta-query based upon designated criteria

Scenario Progression:

1. Once login and security credentials have been verified, the actor is presented with a series of five data entry categories including open data fields and multi-select drop-down boxes. The first multi-select drop-down contains all 50 states including an open text box that is validated to accept either Zip-5 or Zip-3 data formats. The user selects its patient demographic area of choice. Multiple states and/or Zip-3/5 can be selected to resolve the desired patient demographic area.

2. The second data entry category allows the actor to enter a date range for which they want to see aggregate count data. The actor enters the start and end date into a text boxes that are validated to accept only standard date format in mm/dd/yyyy.

3. The third data entry category is a multi-select drop-down of all known syndrome classifiers that are in use by all phGRID services to date. The user can choose to "select all" within the drop-down or choose a unique combination of syndrome classifiers.

4. The fourth data entry category is a multi-select drop-down containing all known syndromes for which aggregate data counts are collected for available phGRID services. The user can only select syndromes that are valid for selected classifiers that were chosen in step 3. Given that syndrome classification is not standardized across all phGRID services, AMDS-web will automatically combine syndromes that have the same name designated by their respective classifier. If the actor chooses to query syndromes that are dissimilar but conducive with supporting epidemiological evidence (i.e., GI and Rash) they can do so if the syndromes are valid for previously selected classifiers (future iteration).

5. The fifth data entry category is a drop-down box containing available abberation detection methods for determing statistical significance of aggregated counts across all available phGRID services. Currently only on one abberation detection method (C2) will be available in the drop-down box. Available user-defined thresholds (e.g. 1 SD, 2 SD, 3 SD, etc.) relevant to the selected abberation detection method can also be chosen in an adjacent drop-down.

As the actor selects criteria from these five previous categories, the phGRID services available for providing aggregate data are dynamically displayed in the AMDS-Web Services Selection Tool on the same page (AWEBUC02).
