Software Requirements:

Operating System: Microsoft Windows (XP, Vista, 2003, etc), Linux, Mac OSX (intel processor only, using VMWare Fusion)

Vmware: VMware Player ( HYPERLINK "http://www.vmware.com/"www.vmware.com)

Assumptions:

All prerequisite software has been installed by this point.

Knowledge of Linux commands

Virtual Data Toolkit version 1.8.1 is being installed.

Starting the Installation

Copy the DVD files to a folder on your local hard drive.

Open the SBSuSE1-DVD OVF file with VMware player

Login to the VM as root. (password: root123)

Change the root password using the passwd command.

Start the GUI by entering the startx command.

Click Computer--> Control Center --> Configure Network

Select the “Traditional Method with ifup” radio button and click next

Select an interface and click edit.

Change IP Address and Hostname information and click next.

Click next

NOTE: All network changes can be done via the text GUI. Type: yast2 to access configuration GUI at the command prompt.

Enter command: source /opt/vdt/setup.sh

Request host and user certificates for your VM (Go to HYPERLINK \l "RequestingHostCertificates" Requesting Host Certificate section)
