The project I am most proud of is my first style and still-life drawing. I think I like it because of the creative aspect of the assignment. I hadn’t done a still life for a pretty long time so it was also nice to draw from an actual object (and actual bugs!). I enjoyed shading the teapot and adding highlights to the bug. It was also different to work on grey paper. I think this piece helped me practice drawing an accurate object from real life and not from a picture.
The most important thing we did for me this semester was discussing our plans for our assignments/sketchbook assignments. I know it isn't a specific project, but I did find it the most valuable. It was nice to talk about my ideas and have others ask clarifying questions so I could understand what I really wanted to do in my assignment. I also enjoyed adding on to others ideas to help them as well.
My first goal was to get better at using acrylics. I definitely think I met this goal. During a couple sketchbook assignments, I used acrylic paints and I also used them outside of class assignments. Now that I have used them more, I think they may be my favorite medium as I find them very versatile. Also, my idea for a project was to do a collage of papers which I did as a sketchbook assignment. I forgot about writing that so I think it’s funny that I suggested it later on as well.
