Reflection on Work
I thought this project was really fun and the general nature of the project felt very exploratory and gave me the opportunity to learn a lot about monoprinting and gelatin.
Playing around with objects and textures at first, I learned how they would appear on the printing (like what would be on the front, more in the background, covered up, etc).
With that, I chose my textures intentionally, still leaving room for experimentation and testing different things, to come out of this assignment with some interesting prints.
For stencils, I think something simple with a large surface area would work best, especially when testing things out as beginners. I feel like those are the easiest to make work as they will appear on paper.

I had a really fun time working with the prints I didn’t love. I definitely learned how to salvage a print I didn’t like the look of and make it something really intriguing with some magazine clippings and collage. (It was also a great time to practice my xacto knife skills).
I think my favorite collaged print is the one of the woman on the beach. I liked taking a “real” (it’s painted) figure and combining it with very abstract elements.
I also enjoyed the second collaged print I made because it was combining a few different elements, like the cut out in the corner, and it looks funky/creepy which I enjoyed.
