Through the inktober drawings we did in Drawing and Painting last semester, I found that my style, when it comes to ink drawings, is really just scribbling. I always thought inking was really scary as it is permanent, but by being sort of messy, I think it took pressure off of what I was doing and made the process more fun and creative. The three still life drawings I chose were ones that I thought resembled my own drawings the most. They have a more loose and scribbly nature to them which is what I see in my own work. The one on the left seems like a stretch to call it scribbly, but I don’t think the artist's main objective in the sketch was to make it neat and rather focus on the shadows.
Something I have noticed about these drawings is how they are sort of loose and a little messy, but still are convincing in the way they resemble what the reference was. I think that prioritizing getting the right values, shapes, and shadows, helps with the realism. For me, I believe it would be beneficial if I paid more attention to smaller details in variation of shadows to make my drawings look more realistic.
