Purpose:
To experiment with a variety of watercolor techniques;
To make connections between experimenting with watercolor techniques and learning to create your own landscape watercolor.
There are many helpful strategies and techniques that I will use and keep in mind when I do my final watercolor landscape. One of the strategies I will use is completing or partially completing the background first. This would then allow me to paint the foreground easier without having obvious lines or unnecessary muddiness. Another technique I would like to use is masking fluid. The masking fluid would allow areas of my painting to remain white while I do the rest. This is a really helpful strategy that will aid me in the process of making a complete landscape. The last technique I will be using is layering. I think that watercolor is really made by layering. It provides such nice colors and dimensions. This will help to make a convincing 3d landscape and make my painting just look overall nice.
