Purpose:
To experiment, explore, and learn a variety of techniques to paint with watercolor;
To incorporate a variety of watercolor techniques and landscape strategies to create a final watercolor landscape;
I notice how much more complete my final looks than everything else I have done. I didn’t really know where to stop and when my paintings were completed before, but now I think I have a better understanding. One of the things I have learned through this process is how to layer. It provides rich coloring and depth which helped in creating a convincing landscape. The next thing I learned was starting with the background. This helped me to make the landscape more cohesive by “blending” it into the middle/foreground. The last thing I learned was utilizing different amounts of water when mixing paints. It helped layer, do light washes, make colors darker, etc. It also helped with the sky and water when I was doing the wet into wet technique.
