A program of intramural and interscholastic athletics shall be considered as an integral part of the educational program in all secondary schools.

Interscholastic Athletics
The West Warwick School Committee endorses and shall support the rules and regulations of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League as a means of promoting the spirit of fair play and good sportsmanship among competing athletes and schools.

Assumption of Risk Form
The West Warwick School Committee shall require that every student participating in any interscholastic athletic activity properly complete the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Sports Acknowledgment Assumption of Risk Form in compliance with League Rules and Regulations.

Affirmative Action Program for Girls' Athletics
The West Warwick School Committee endorses and supports the Rhode Island Interscholastic League's Affirmative Action Program for Girls' Athletics as a means of promoting the fair and equitable participating of female athletes in interscholastic athletic competition.

Evening Events
All outdoor evening athletic events shall be held in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League and upon the approval of the principals of the respective schools.

Co-Educational Participation
When, in compliance with the rules and regulations of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League a female athlete competes for a place on a boy's team, it is the policy of the West Warwick School Committee that said girl(s) shall be required to meet the same qualifications that boys meet to become a member of the particular varsity team. Such girl candidates must complete for positions on the team on the same basis as boys.

Athletic Passes
Athletic passes to home interscholastic athletic contests may be distributed in accordance with the following:
1. The Athletic Director shall maintain an accounting of all athletic passes issued.
2. The Athletic Director shall attempt to revise passes yearly, so, in case of a lost pass, an unauthorized person shall not have access
to same.
3. Persons issued passes are required to notify the Athletic Director of loss of a pass immediately.
4. A West Warwick Athletic Pass may be honored only for the person to whom the pass was issued. If a question should arise
concerning a pass, positive identification may be requested.
5. The Athletic Director shall provide West Warwick Athletic Passes, upon request, to the members of the West Warwick School
Committee, Superintendent of Schools, school administrators and other professional and/or non-professional employees of the
West Warwick School Department as set forth in policy or at the discretion of the Athletic Director.
6. Distribution of all passes shall be made through the office of the Director of Athletics.

Summer Camps
Realizing that the development of athletic skills and strategy is an ongoing process, the West Warwick School Committee welcomes applications for summer athletic camps provided that:
1. Participating coaches are certified and/or acceptable to the school committee.
2. A definite educational program for the camp has been planned and presented for school committee review.
3. The facilities desired are available during the dates requested.
4. The camp does not impair the normal custodial and/or maintenance program during the summer months.
5. Any costs for the use of the facilities are born by the camp organizers or directors.
6. All participating individuals have accident insurance coverage.
7. All rules and regulations pertaining to facilities to be used are adhered to.

Band Participation at Non-Home Games
The West Warwick High School Band may attend non-home games upon completion and approval of a field trip request with any restrictions and/or provisions as set forth.
An exception to this policy shall be the annual Thanksgiving Day football game for which transportation from the school to the game site, where necessary, shall be provided by the West Warwick School Department.

Winter Practice Facilities
In an effort to provide the various interscholastic athletic teams with adequate practice time and facilities at a reasonable time, the boys and girls basketball teams may use the West Warwick Athletic Complex Field House for practice sessions during the week from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. providing that all Field House rules and regulations are adhered to.
Noting the additional burden these practice sessions create for operations of the Athletic Complex, the Athletic Department shall be responsible for clean-up and securing the building.
