PURPOSE
The West Warwick Public Schools are committed to the efficient use of its natural resources and shall provide leadership in developing a realistic energy use ethic. Increased awareness of energy needs and their associated costs in relation to the operation of its facilities will promote conservation of energy while maintaining a professional environment.
STATEMENT OF POLICY
Every employee, student and school volunteer is expected to contribute to energy efficiency and be an “energy conscious consumer”. Implementation of this policy shall be the joint responsibility of the School Committee, administration, teachers, students and staff. Its success is to be contingent on cooperation at all levels. All parties shall actively participate in the District’s energy conservation efforts. The administration must support the District’s efforts to implement, direct, monitor, evaluate, report and maintain energy conservation throughout each facility. The Director of Facilities shall serve as the Energy Conservation Manager and will oversee each building’s energy use as well as research alternate energy saving measures that will help reduce the usage through the district. The Department of Property Service shall maintain records of energy consumption and associated costs and shall work with the School Committee, Superintendent and Building Principals in the adherence to the district wide Energy Program. Conservative use of all energy systems at each school will need to be enforced.
