So far this year, I have worked with Ms. Smith with her classes to make commercials and podcasts about her Titan Cafe. I am currently working with English 1 & English 2 to provide resources and support for remediation and enrichment activities. Above, you'll find the agenda to an afterschool planning time and the October 31st rotations guide that all of English 1 students will participate.
Reflection: Although many sessions were offered, attendance was low at best. This was disheartening. I will work with my team and SIP to better determine our staff's needs. Although a survey was sent out last year, the responses were sparse.
Garner Chronicles is up and running. We've met with our students several times. We have been asked to present 2 different student showcases at the North Carolina Technoloy in Education Symposium (NCTIES) on March 9, 2023. We hosted a very successful family night on February 1st, where students and parents from Vandora Springs Elementary, East Garner Magnet Middle and our school gathered together to show how much we've learned and to practice for the upcoming showcase.
We are working on our website. We've recorded a few interviews already. On May 18th we will have a booth set up at the Garner Night Market to conduct more interviews. On May 22, we hosted our community night which was well attended. WCPSS Communications sent Jonathan Duren who will be writing an article. Wake County Board of Education. member Monika Johnson Hostle also attended and would like to continue to be involved.
Garner Night Market was a success. Students from all 3 schools werre able to meet us there. While attending this community event, students were able to interview business owners, town council members, residents, Garner police and members of the Garner historical society. The students were well received and learned a lot!
