Titan News

The Titan News Crew shows up and shows out! Each week during Titan Time, they write scripts, translate scripts, record, edit, interview and produce a Monday show full of announcements and interviews. This year I hope to have more consistent scheduling, a rotating crew to give more students an opportunity to participate and  we have better equipment for editing.

I wrote a Donors Choose grant which was funded in November, called You're Watching Titan News which provided new microphones, an addition tripod and some needed supplies.

In March, another grant was funded to provide our Seniors with graduation cords for their dedication to this club.

Titan Time

I will have 4 sessions per week during Titan Time. Two  of them will be for the Titan News Crew. This will enable us to work on scripts, translations, special reports, recording and better graphics. At least one session per week will be for the 4C's grant project- Garner Chronicles. One session will be our PLC meetings. The fifth session will vary, depending on if we need it for Titan News or Garner Chronicles. If on Friday those two sessions are caught up, we will add students to the TLC and have a craft project.

With Ms. Gaff leaving, I have now been trained and will be the backup administrator for the Titan Time system.

This included maintaining the student  and teacher databases, turning the system on each day and assisting Ms. Guy as needed.

Garner Chronicles

Titan TakeAways

In an effort to streamline communication, I created Titan TakeAways after meeting with administration over the summer. I continue to maintain and refine this canvas course. The purpose is twofold: first, it allows our teachers to have the experience of using canvas as a student; secondly, it is a place to store all information that South Garner teachers may need. The is also a great opportunity for administration to "assign" tasks that need to be completed. examples include surveys, watching required videos and filling out forms.

Tech Contact Duties

Part of my job is to fulfill the tech contact duties. One of those duties is to monitor help desk tickets, resolving them if possible or providing more details and forwarding to tech services if not. As tech contact, I attend meetings twice a month where we discuss everything from moving from GOogle Classroom to Canvas to day-use only student devices.

WakeLearns

During the workdays, we communicated with staff about how to use WakeLearns and check their CEUs. We also asked for any courses that would be taught throughout the year. As a team, we divided up those courses and entered them into WakeLearns. As sessions are offered, I will track attendance of staff throughout the year. In May, I will work with my team to close out all of our PD sessions and launch the surveys necessary for to earn CEUs.
