Projects

Collaborated with Ms. Smith's Culinary class to create commercials for the Titan Cafe, Ms. Fernandez's Creative Writing class to create trailers for their screenplays and helped with their final project,  10 minute minimum podcasts. Worked with Mr. Parson's World History classes for to create and implement a choice board and guided all of English 3 to create podcasts, trailers or videos on the Hunger Games request for sponsors. To date (1/10/2024) I have helped with 21 project based learning initiatives.

Daily To-Dos

To the left, you will see the list of items on my to do list for each day. This helps me stay organized and is printed and taped on my desk. It saves room in my planner for things like PLC meetings and projects.

SGHS ChatGPT Novmber 2023

In December, I worked with English 4 and in May I worked with Curriculum Assistance classes to help them understand and utilize (Artificial Intelligence) AI in an effective, ethical manner. In English 4, students had created a thesis based on a controversial topic. This provided an great opportunity to use ChatGPT, since AI is sometimes biased and only current through January 2022.

Students took their proposed thesis and used ChatGPT to ask if it was good, how it could be better and what resources they might use to support their statement.

We used Plickers at the beginning of the lesson to gauge what students already knew about AI.

In the CA classes, we discussed how AI works, reasons to use AI, that it is a tool to enhance their original work and we had discussions about how to craft a prompt to get the best results.

Titan Time

As one of the administrators in the AllTimely system that we use for Titan TIme, I have been involved with the set up of the system and training for staff. I am the  backup administrator for the Titan Time system.

I continuously maintain the student  and teacher databases, adding and removing accounts as needed.

For my sessions, I host the Garner Chronicles on the 2nd, 3th and 4th Wednesday of the month. I offer either a digital breakout session or Minecraft EDU session on the first Wednesdays.

Titan TakeAways

In an effort to streamline communication, I created Titan TakeAways after meeting with administration over the summer of 2022. I continue to maintain and refine this canvas course. The purpose is twofold: first, it allows our teachers to have the experience of using canvas as a student; secondly, it is a place to store all information that South Garner teachers may need. The is also a great opportunity for administration to "assign" tasks that need to be completed. examples include surveys, watching required videos and filling out forms.

I truly hope 2023-2024 will see this resrouce used to its potential.

Tech Contact Duties

Part of my job is to fulfill the tech contact duties. One of those duties is to monitor help desk tickets, resolving them if possible or providing more details and forwarding to tech services if not.

Through the distribution of devices, addressing issues, and ensuring device functionality, I actively contribute to Standard II by establishing a participatory learning environment that supports collaboration and honors diversity among all students.
