A Year to Remember

Wow. everything was coming along nicely. Aside from an extreme amount of time spent on testing, it seemed like we were finally in a good routine. I was teaching 3 specials a day; supporting teachers with projects and moving forward with digital portfolios. Then I went to Stone Mountain for a hike one day and when I got a signal back I found out the school building was closed for two weeks, which turned into the rest of the school year.

Note: The building was closed. School was not closed. Immediately, we had an entire staff and student population, not to mention a parent population who needed to know a lot more about facilitating instructional technology than imaginable.

I did my best to support everyone. I created tech help websites, worked tirelessly on communications and made myself available a little too much. I learned to set some boundaries and expectations. I learned to let go and let others handle some issues on their own. Mostly, I learned that my job was extremely secure and that everyone should have in Instructional Technology Facilitator during a pandemic.
