Garner Chronicles continues to meet as a club during Titan Time. We have been asked to present 3 different student showcases at the North Carolina Technology in Education Symposium (NCTIES) on March 7, 2024. After writing the 3 proposals, each school submitted one. We will have 5 adults and 30 students who are now able to attend a state conference- for free. Presenting at a conference provides students with a unique opportunity to develop essential skills such as public speaking, research, and critical thinking, fostering their confidence, academic growth, and future career readiness.

We are working on our website. We've recorded a few interviews  this year and have many from last year that we are editing and uploading. On January 20th we will have students from all 3 schools meet at the Garner Rec Center to get to know each other and then walk to the Garner Historical Museum where we will learn and conduct interviews.

On September 15th, our club participated in the Greatness of Garner event. Our students actively interviewed community members, including the Mayor of Garner, Ken Marshburn.

SGHS Canvas Advanced August 2023
Getting Started with Canvas SGHS

Canvas Trainings

I crafted these presentations specifically for our staff and delivered them to over 94 team members on our workday, August 23. I took charge of presenting the Intermediate & Advanced sessions. This served as a valuable occasion for all staff to configure and synchronize their Powerschool gradebooks with their Canvas courses, as Canvas stands as our sole Learning Management System (LMS) this year. This learning opportunity also provided insights into various time-saving tasks that contribute to successful student outcomes.

I actively engaged in professional development by attending the WCPSS Convergence conference in November and the NCTIES state conference in March, aligning with Standard IV. These experiences not only enriched my knowledge of learners and learning but also allowed me to explore and promote effective instructional practices in a 21st Century learning environment. As a presenter at the state conference, I am not only showcasing my expertise but also embodying the principles outlined in Standard IV, including the use of effective pedagogy to infuse the curriculum with 21st Century content and tools, demonstrating knowledge of content relevant to my teaching specialty, and actively modeling, sharing, and promoting effective principles of teaching and learning.
