MANAAKITANGA

Kōrero pai i ngā wā katoa. Whakaaro pai ki ngā tangata katoa.

Speak good things all the time. Think good things about all people.

We will achieve this by:

  • Using put ups all the time

  • Using nice words, no swearing

  • Thank people, use please when asking - using our manners

  • Thinking before we speak and not saying anything if we can't say anything nice

  • Knowing how our mood affects our learning and others

  • Respecting others and the way they are feeling

  • Using kind words that make people feel great

  • Not jumping to conclusions, it may have been an accident and not something to get upset about

  • Apologising to someone if you do something accidental to them STRAIGHT AWAY to avoid things escalating to a fight

  • Supporting others to say the right thing

  • Not gossiping about others or spreading rumours. It is hurtful to people.

  • Not telling your friends they can't play with someone else, that is their choice and none of your business who they play with.

  • Think - would I like someone to say that to me? Or about me? If not, do not say it.

Success Indicator:

  • Our class will be calmer and more controlled helping us to learn better

  • There will be less arguments and stress every day, making us feel happier at school

  • We will be thanked for our thoughtfulness

  • We will feel respected and cared for when people speak to us using kind words

  • We will feel safe and happy in our personal space and in our classroom

  • We can continue to improve and develop our reputation in a positive way

  • We will be ready to learn as much as we can

Memories of 2023

Copy of DK: Memory Book

Grab some photos from the year of yourself, or perhaps your work that represent each page in your memory book.

What better way to celebrate an awesome year at school? Create your own memory book! Make a copy in your LITERACY folder.

Magical Moments - Describe at least two magical moments from this year that you will always remember.

Yearly Yes! - Share a 'Yes!', where you tried something new or faced a challenge. How did it make you feel?

Yonder Years - Think about something that you want to achieve or continue to grow next year.

Exceptional Effort - Recall a time when you put in exceptional effort to achieve something. What was the outcome, and what did you learn from it?

Awesome As - What is something about this year that was awesome? It could be a new skill, a new talent, an experience, or meeting a new person.

Reminiscing Rides - Imagine taking a ride through all the memorable experiences of this year. What stops would you make, and why?

Each morning we will get our brains moving by learning and practicing small things. It will make us smarter!

Daily knowledge

  1. Go to this link:  ReadWorks

  2. Enter the class code FEMBRF

  3. Your password is 1234. You can change this if you want but WRITE IT DOWN IN YOUR MANA BOOK :-)

  4. Bookmark the webpage

Words are where humans store knowledge. So we will build our knowledge by reading these articles. We will also increase our vocabulary, improve our reading stamina, and enjoy reading every day.

When you have finished reading, write two or three things that you learned from the article and would like to remember in the classroom Book Of Learning online.

Independent Work

  1. TIMES TABLES GAMES ONLINE - complete all the activities (before you practice using the games). Get your certificate for ALL of the times tables. Practice until you can do it with your eyes closed! MAX 10 MINS

  2. PROTOTEC - Start at a lower level to get your brains going, then go up to the next level to push yourself. Try to get at least 90% correct, keep on trying! MAX 10 MINS

  3. PRACTICE CHAMPS CARDS - PURPLE cards - groups: Matai, Kahikatea, Kowhai. BLUE cards - groups: Kahikatea, Rimu. Choose a card and do the work on it in your maths books. Note down the card name (eg Card 1E, Card 1A) and write down what you are practicing "We are practicing to make complements to 100," or "I am practicing to write numbers that are 100 or 1000 more or less than a given number." Do one card for the day. Don't do the same card twice. Note: The QR codes do NOT work on these.

  4. MATHS BUDDY - When you have finished your ACTIVE TASKS (must be done first) then try the Weekly Revision.

  5. Polymaths - challenge yourself using your home login. Spend MAX 10 MINS.

Learning to Type

Using our chromebooks, we need to practice our typing. Whaene Vicki can type WITHOUT looking! This is called touch typing. You have to practice a lot to get to that stage, but you can get better and USE MORE THAN ONE FINGER if you practice just a little bit!

Remember to have your headphones on, or your sound turned off.

The more you practice the faster you will become. KEEP TRYING. It gets easier.

Your user name and password are glued inside your Mana book.

Spelling Practice

PRACTICE EVERY DAY.

When you earn enough honeypots, you can change your Avatar on FRIDAYS ONLY, not during the week.

How are words made? We can work out what words mean when we learn how words are made.
