The Untold Story
Today we think nothing of travelling to a new country, just jump on a plane and you can go anywhere in the world in only a few hours. But imagine if you lived thousands of years ago, and the only way to travel was a double hulled waka.
How did Kupe know?
Eight hundred years ago, crossing the world's largest ocean was about as challenging as us putting a man on the moon today!
How did they find their way?
Eight hundred years ago, sailors on a double hulled waka didn't have Google Maps or Satellites. So how did they know where to steer? Watch to find out!

We are going to learn some basic information about the Cook Islands. This will be done by finding information around the room and filling in some puzzle pieces with the information asked for.
The Brief
Find the information hung up around the room.
Match the right puzzle piece to each information sheet.
Write your name on the back of each puzzle piece.
Write/draw the answer on your puzzle piece in PENCIL.
Check your answer with a friend, do you have it right? If you are unsure, ask a teacher.
Go over your answers in BLUE PEN. Rub out any pencil marks left.
Colour in your pictures with COLOURED PENCILS.
Colour in your puzzle pieces with COLOURED PENCILS.
Make them bright and colourful just like the Cook Islands are.
Cut out your puzzle pieces.
We will tape them together into one sheet each when we are finished.
Store them in your tote trays (tuck them inside your MANA books to keep them flat and nice) between completing them.
