Which Zoom product?
We are using Zoom in three different areas of work:
- Meetings (with external participants)
Below we help you to understand which Zoom products work best for your event.
Zoom Webinars are for hosting online events at scale.
The key thing Zoom webinars include:
giving the host greater control - muting all delegates (attendees) for instance
polls/Q&A
roles of host/co-host, panelist, attendee
scaling to 3,000 participants (please note we only have one licence for this size, available on request from ITD - contact Robert Lindesay-Bell or Top Rana)
allowing hosts and panelists to see participants list
a registration facility
Breakout Rooms coming soon!
Zoom Meetings are for hosting more interactive sessions with external participants. break your session into smaller groups. The interaction will include audience participation and breakout sessions. They are therefore ideal for Virtual Classrooms.
Features include:
Breakout rooms
Participants can mute/unmute their own audio
Host can mute/request to unmute participants
Everyone can see all attendees
Easier to share/download resources
Meeting chat
Polling is still available but Q&A is disabled in Meetings
The meetings facility is also a great way to record a panel session or interview for publishing as a video online. The Events team can show you all the best way to do this as they have first hand experience.

Internal meetings
At ICAEW Zoom is NOT intended for use for internal-only meetings. Unless they are practice sessions for a future Zoom webinar or meeting with external participants.
For internal-only meetings you must Microsoft Teams.
Zoom video recordings
If you want to create a video recording using Zoom you can do this from any of the Lifesize equipment in our meeting rooms. For more information on using Lifesize for Zoom see Using Zoom in our offices. If you need help with filming you can also speak to ITD.
