Movie Theater & COEX Review

Activities like watching a movie, shopping and reading books are a good way of enjoying a cultural life. They can help us understand different worlds and thus expand our creativity. In order to experience many kinds of culture ourselves, our newspaper club went to a movie theater in COEX, a place full of numerous activities to enjoy.

COEX is of great access from our school, taking only two stops by a subway. Because of this, I myself go to COEX often to hang out with my friends or buy something. COEX is the largest underground mall in Asia with a total of about 260 shops such as clothing stores, library, restaurants, an aquarium and much more. This is why COEX is such a convenient place; we don’t need to go to multiple places because that one mall has everything we need.

When we arrived at the movie theater, the club teacher bought us tickets while we went off to buy us some snacks. I bought myself a strawberry banana smoothie and a large size popcorn, half butter and half caramel flavored. What I liked about this movie theater was that there were so many different kinds of food we could help ourselves with. Not only was there popcorn but also hotdogs, nachos and fresh ades.

The movie we watched is called “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”. Although I didn’t watch the full movie, it was still very interesting and full of tension. The movie began by showing how Indiana Jones found the antikythera during world war II. Indiana Jones and his friend professor Basil Shaw sneak into the Nazis to find the Lance of Longinus. However, they get caught not long after and soon even realize that the spear the Nazis had was not real. This led to them bringing a different artifact instead which was the antikythera. The most memorable part of the movie was how the movie presented the whole scene. The flashing scenes and high music held my attention and made me full of interest.

I personally found the movie really interesting. I am interested in archaeology so I liked how it had historical elements throughout the movie. However I did find the characters a bit boring in terms of personality and their background story. Thus I didn’t really like how the whole story of the movie was a cliché of the main character returning back to his life and living happily ever after.

The movie theater was great, but there are other places we can go in COEX. Some examples of them are the cute tiny goods shops like Jelly Crew and Butter. They are my two favorite places in COEX and I go there every time I am at COEX. They mainly sell stickers or stationary items in cute designs though these are not the only things they sell. In some shops, you can find Airpods or phone cases, pouches, some sweets and even games or bathing products.
