The following Members did not have a vote recorded Non-votes
can be due to a number of reasons.
The Speaker and deputies cannot vote because of the impartiality of their role (these have been removed from this list), and Sinn Féin Members have long had
an absentionist policy (removed from this list). Members can be absent carrying out constituency or ministerial business, or be unable to attend for other reasons or excuses. Or they can simply decide not to vote. We have listed here all members who did not have a vote recorded. Given the importance of this vote to the survival of democracy and any meaningful representation by MPs of their constituents, lame "reasons for nor attending" are unacceptable. We expect our representatives to make the effort. However, if we have done anyone an injustice, they can submit an explanation and we may amend this account accordingly if the explanation is a good one.
