Proficiency Training

You can spend time between adventures learning a new language or training with a set of tools that your base class, feats, or race may not offer. However, training to be proficient in a language, weapon, or tool, can require a lot of dedication.

After you spend the requisite amount of time and money, you learn a new language or gain proficiency with the new tool or item. You can spend this time in installments. If you find another Player character who knows that language or has that tool or instrument proficiency, you can eliminate the gold cost provided you both spend the equivalent Downtime days completing the study.

Learning any armor proficiency require the character to already have the learned the previous tier below it. Heavy armor requires medium armor proficiency to learn, and medium requires light armor proficiency.

Each proficiency you train in gives you proficiency with only one kind of that item. Training in a tool gives you that tool and nothing else. Training in one armor or weapon gleans you proficiency in only that one kind of armor or one weapon, not a whole group of them.
