The program is a partnership between the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) and may Public Housing Authorities (PHA). Low-income veterans who are eligible for the HUD-VASH program receive a specialized Housing Choice Voucher to be used at a rental of their choosing. In addition to the rental subsidy, eligible veterans receive VA services from Palo Alto Health Care System. The local HUD-VASH program serves the following counties: San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, San Benito, Tuolumne and Southern Alameda County.
