During this week's Zoom meeting, we will discuss the soft skill of effective communication and how to use it to have Christlike communication with others.
Someone who is an effective communicator: Consistently communicates with clarity and thoroughness to optimize audience understanding. Communicates information in a clear, concise, and timely manner. Demonstrates effective speaking and presentation skills.
In preparation for our meeting:
Read this talk: Christlike Communications, Elder L. Lionel Kendrick, October 1988
Study this scripture: James 1:19 “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath”
Ponder on the importance of Christlike communication with our family, friends, colleagues, and associates.
Review the questions below and think about how you will answer them in our discussion.
Action Plan: Identify 1-2 actions you will take to increase your Christlike communication skills.
Questions to Ponder:
1.Tell me about a time when you had to explain something you knew well to someone who had difficulty understanding the subject. What did you do?
2.Describe a time when you were not effective in getting your point across. What contributed to this?
3.Describe a time when you were very effective in getting you point across and convinced others to change their positions.
4.Describe a time when you had to adjust your communication style to your audience. What specifically did you do and how did you determine it helped?
