During this week's Zoom meeting, we will discuss the soft skill of adaptability and the related gospel topics wisdom and faith.
Someone with good adaptability skills: Quickly learns and applies new information, skills, and processes to new and unfamiliar situations and tasks. Builds upon current knowledge and skills; quickly grasps the essence and underlying structure of situations and will exhaust all possibilities to find solutions.
In preparation for our meeting:
Read these two talks: Where is Wisdom, Elder Russell M. Nelson, October, 1992 Fear Not; I am with Thee, Jean A. Stevens
Study these scriptures: D&C 109:7 and 14 “And as all have not faith, seek ye diligently and teach one another words of wisdom; yea, seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom, seek learning even by study and also by faith…And do thou grant, Holy Father, that all those who shall worship in this house may be taught out of the best books, and that they may seek learning even by study, and also by faith, as thou has said.” and Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
Ponder on the importance of adaptability, wisdom, and faith in our professional and personal lives.
Review the questions below and think about how you will answer them in our discussion.
Action Plan: Identify 1-2 actions you will take to increase your adaptability skills.
Questions to Ponder:
1.Tell me something new and challenging that you have learned in the past three months. What motivated you to learn this and how did you go about it?
2.Tell me about an issue or problem you faced where you did not have all the information or skill necessary to solve it. What did you do to overcome this disadvantage?
3.Tell me about a time when you had to change your priorities because of a change in circumstances or plans. How did you handle it and what was the result?
4.What is the biggest change you have ever faced, how did you handle it and what did you learn from it?
