During this week's Zoom meeting, we will discuss the soft skill of personal effectiveness and a related gospel topic of the straight and narrow path.
Someone who strives for personal effectiveness: Uses his or her time effectively and efficiently; sets priorities; values time, separates the critical few from the trivial many and concentrates his/her efforts accordingly. Avoids wasting other's time. Achieves goals and meets commitments.
In preparation for our meeting:
Read this talk: Running Your Marathon, Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, October, 1989
Study this scripture: Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be wary; and they shall walk and not faint.”
Ponder on the importance of personal effectiveness to staying on the straight and narrow path
Review the questions below and think about how you will answer them in our discussion.
Action Plan: Identify 1-2 actions you will take to increase your personal effectiveness skills.
Questions to Ponder:
1.Share some of your best recommendations on how to manage your time.
2.What do you believe are some of the most prevalent problems you have in managing your time? Give an example.
3.Provide an example of when you had to allocate time between projects and/or activities? What criteria did you use? What was the outcome?
4.What kinds of tools do you use for your daily schedule? What are the most effective?
