‘How to lose a guy in 10 days’ is a classic rom-Com lasting 1 hour and 58 minutes which came out February 2003 and is currently 20 years old! The movie itself, created by Donald Petrie starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, was based on the picture book of the same name by Michael Alexander and Jeannie Long. The book itself has no narrative; only a comedic list of dating “don'ts”, so the characters and plot were created specifically for the film.

The movie starts off with our favourite, Kate Hudson, who plays Andie Anderso; a Journalist and “resident ‘How to’ girl” at Composure Magazine, which largely produces feminine, light-hearted news and stories, unlike what our main character wants to create. We soon get to meet our main character’s love interest, Benjamin Barry (Matthew McConaughey), who works in sports advertising but wants to widen his options to the jewels many love, Diamonds. So, we as the audience watch what happens as both our characters want to prove themselves to their bosses and entangle their lives, their hearts and their jobs as we witness a funny but intriguing story of misunderstanding, mischief and merciless love.

Personally, I would highly recommend this movie to anyone with a love for romance, comedy or even if you just want to have a laugh with a friend at some of the stereotypical ‘dating don'ts’ you can see in this movie. Be prepared for laughter, lots of cringing and maybe even to shed a few tears as you see our favourite couple of the day battle it out in a frustrating 10 days together and see if they come out on the other side.

For anyone interested in watching the movie, it can be found on Netflix, Apple TV, Amazon prime and you can even rent it on YouTube!

Now, I Personally give this movie a 7.5/10 as I always love a good Rom-Com!
