Designing on a way larger scale than previously, I definitely learnt to think and envision with a wider scope but still keep the details in mind. This project also exposed me to masterplan designing and designing to suit a wider spectrum of users.
The main challenge with the project was to express the theme of the masterplan with a more landscaping form which we are not so used to since the start of the course. Down to every detail all around the 'park' needed to be spot on for users to not have a disrupted experience : the types of crops and plants in every section, the detailing of the trellis along the pathway, the floor finishes and etc.
Another obstacle was with the site visit, analysis and preparation before the project, as the whole semester was onboard and tasked to collect data together and for everyone to work on the same pace and page was quite a challenge and hiccups with task separation and cooperation was inevitable. Which improved my leading skills with putting more pressure on deadlines and quality of outcomes, where I had a relatively easy-going leading style.
This project really spoke to me as it was more of my interest whereby we are revamping an existing building/ project. There were elements that was retained which displayed the site's heritage and memories whilst cohesively merging with the new urban farming-centric masterplan.
