For the second project, our task was to draw the orthographic, axonometric and perspective projections of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's Farnsworth House in River Rd, Chicago, Illinois. We had to produce 1 floor plan, 2 elevations, 1 section, 1 axonometry, 1 one-point perspective and 1 two-point perspective drawing; all in the scale of 1:100. These were separated into 3 parts; part 1 for the orthographics, part 2 for the axonometry and part 3 for the perspectives.
Exclusively for this project, we had the choice to either draw by hand or with AutoCAD.
For me, I chose to use AutoCAD to complete the orthographic drawings, and use the floor plan to construct the axonometric and perspective drawings. Because of my choice, I went to an AUTOCAD workshop hosted by Mr. Adib. I found it very informative as I had no experience with AUTOCAD and yet, i could easily understand and get to grips with the fundamental functions and features in the application.
Besides the learning curve with AutoCAD, accurate perspective was pretty tricky to me because of all the lines running through the page confusing which lines needed to be inked and which don't.
Overall, I think project 2 was less intensive because less creative elements were needed as we were given the dimensions and examples to follow. However, I had to do some more external research for in depth measurements and details of the house.
