For this final project, we were tasked to design a tropical wildlife discovery unit in Bukit Jalil Recreational Park. This was our first time designing for a physical site in a tropical setting.
Since the main focal point for this project was site context and user, I wanted to maximize the potential of my chosen site and take advantage of the view from the site and also not obstruct any existing circulation. User-wise, I wanted the experience to act as a bridge to connect the seemingly polar-opposite lifestyles of the users together and strengthen the bond between us.
And '伪装' was the end result, which means 'disguise' in Mandarin. It shows how the structure merges with the site while transforms and meet the users needs in spatial qualities internally.
The interior was the main challenge, I wanted it to be 1 open space with some type of segregation to tie everything together and simultaneously provide privacy when needed.
From this project alone, I've learnt about designing to context, space utilisation + planning and importance of user experience, especially when it's designed for someone special.
