The r&w toolbar lies at the centre of the software and provides a variety of tools to assist in reading, writing, researching and studying. Each tool is represented by an icon and with continued use, the icons will become familiar over time. Some of the tools will overlap and be used for multiple activities. There are preset toolbars for Speech, Reading, Writing, Study Skills and Research each of which contain activity specific tools. There is also a User Default toolbar which can be customized to reflect tools that are used on a regular basis while removing those that may clutter up the toolbar.
When the program is opened, the toolbar is minimized but represented by the r&w logo which resides on the top of the screen below the Menu Bar. The icon can be moved horizontally in the event that it is blocking text. To reveal the toobar, click on the logo. To change the toolbar back to its minimized view (represented only by the rw icon), click on the red close button in the left hand corner of the toolbar. Click on the user icon in the top right hand corner, to view account details.
With the toolbar open, the last toolbar that was used will be shown. The entire toolbar can be moved around the screen as desired. It can also be resized by dragging the edges up and down or to the sides. Depending on the size of the computer screen and how many tools have been selected, not all tools may be visible. View any tools that are not visible by clicking on the downward facing arrow symbol on the bottom left of the toolbar which will expand the toolbar. Click on the upward facing arrow to minimize the toolbar back to one line of icons.
