The Edit Menu features many of the standard commands used in many office programs such as redo, undo, cut, copy, paste, delete and select all. In addition, the shortcuts associated with those commands are identical.
In addition to the standard operational commands, the Edit Menu also features some unique and potentially powerful tools. Many of these tools might not necessarily be used by the student but by someone providing support to the student as a way of preparing the document. Some of the tools may be used to address errors in the conversion process of a document or change the formatting to make it easier to use.
The Edit Underlying Text tool allows changing the way that Kurzweil reads the text. When this tool is activated, an editing window pops up displaying the text from the document as well as a duplicate of the text below which can be edited. In this way, words that are incorrectly read by Kurzweil can be manually corrected.
This is another corrective tool that allows the user to manually repaginate the document. In the sample document that is shown, the document starts at page 4 and ends on page 6. This may be potentially confusing particularly when notes have been extracted. Using the tool, it is easy to reset page 4 to be recognized as the page 1. Resetting the first page will automatically renumber subsequent pages. Do note however, that this will not actually change the physical purple numbering that is part of the original document in the bottom left hand corner.

Kurzweil can remove pages from the document using this command.
Kurzweil can also physically move pages from one position in the document to another.
Word prediction allows the program to suggest words that the writer may wish to use. The tool is based on both phonetic (optional) and letter similarities.
