There are a number of extensions which are simply indispensible and although they may not directly support students, they may drastically improve the efficiency of using the Chrome Browser. Below I have listed some of the most useful extensions.
SimpleExtManager: This extension allows quick enabling, grouping or removal of extensions. Rather than having to go into the setting menu and then navigate to the extensions page, this extension keeps track of all of the extensions that have been added and allows them to be enabled or disabled at the click of a button.
AdBlock: This tool removes (as much as possible) pop-up ads and other undesirable characteristics of websites. Like anti-virus software, coders are constantly searching for ways to defeat anti-virus software so results may vary.
AdBlock for YouTube: This tool is like the one above but it targets YouTube videos and tries to remove any unnecessary ads that are played before the requested video. Again, results may vary.
Privacy Badger: an extension that blocks spying ads and invisible trackers
Lightshot: this extension takes a screenshot of the webpage and allows annotation of the captured image.
Screencastify: this extension is a screen recorder for Chrome allowing the creation of videos in minutes.
Copyfish OCR: extract text from images, videos or PDF
ImprovedTube: This extension will bring additional customization options to YouTube such as changing the quality of the video, hide annotations, comments, suggested video boxes, and elements.
Nifty Split / Tab Scissors / TabResize: these extensions split a window into two or more at the selected tab allowing multiple tabs to be viewed on the same page
SimpleUndoClose / Undo Close Tab: this extension allows the user to restore previous tabs that may have been closed in haste
