The options menu is accessed from the PDF, reading or writing toolbars by clicking on the purple downward arrow to the right of the toobar. This opens up the Options menu which allows the user to toggle several areas of the program.
The first configurable area are Speech options.
Here, users can change the voice used to read text aloud. There are many selections both in male and female voices. The assumption is that users may understand language best when read aloud in an accent most similar to what they hear in their native environment.
Users can also change the speed at which text is read back on a scale of 0 to 100.
The "Continuous reading" toggle prompts the program to either read sentence by sentence when unchecked or to read from start to finish when checked.
Finally, there are six diferent languages to select from for the translator tool.
The Predictions section allows users to determine how many words are suggested when the word prediction tool is activated. Having too few choices may result in the correct word not being offered whereas having too many choices may overwhelm the user.
The "Follow the cursor while typing" toggle either moves the word prediction right below where the user is typing when checked, or it pins the word prediction box in a set location which can be moved with the mouse.
Finally, the text size of the predicted words can be changed using the slider bar.
The Language section allows users to set the language in which read&write operates. There are six different language options including English.
The Features section changes the written language of the document. This will correspond to the language in which words are predicted.
The Features section provides the ability to turn tools on or off thus reducing the options available. This may be useful to prevent students from accessing specific tools during an exam or to reduce students from getting overwhelmed or distracted when performing a basic task.
