"The Vietnam Series FINALE!" is an episode of MrSpherical. It depicts the takeover of the Republic of Vietnam by the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
In March 1968, a helicopter crash-landed on an American military base in Saigon, the capital of the Republic of Vietnam. As American news reporters took images of the helicopter's passengers, two South Vietnamese, one of which was named "Rice Patty", and two Americans. The US got upset, claiming that he was sick of the war, which one of the news reporters broadcasted onto the news. The US knew he had to somehow pull out of the war without looking like he lost, but South Vietnam didn't want that to happen, knowing that the Democratic Republic of Vietnam would seize that opportunity to attack him, with the news reporter even claiming that it isn't the "best method". The US promised South Vietnam that he would continue his support of him, even after the withdrawal.
After heading inside the base, the US received a phone call from the Soviet Union, who told the US that North Vietnam wanted peace, and was willing to negotiate with the US and South Vietnam, but only if they stop bombing North Vietnam. Although the US initially broke out, after the Soviet Union assured the US that it also means that South Vietnam wouldn't be bombed, the US agreed to his terms, and the US and South Vietnam began negotiating with their socialist enemies.
His first condition for negotiation was that North Vietnam recognized South Vietnam, but North Vietnam refused to, calling South Vietnam a "puppet". Even though the Soviet Union tried to get him to agree, North Vietnam only agreed to recognize his southern counterpart if he recognized the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam, which South Vietnam refused to do. Negotiations broke down as both parties hung up.
In Christmas of 1972, the US jumped into a plane, complaining that the endless cycle of negotiations and fightings would never be broken. After South Vietnam told the US that they needed to force the North Vietnamese to submit, The US blamed them for the war, and decided to attack North Vietnam themselves. The other American troop and the South Vietnamese troops boarded the fixed helicopter.
In Hanoi, the capital of North Vietnam, the US began bombing aerial bases, military bases, and forests, claiming he wanted peace and victory. As he dropped more bombs, American and South Vietnamese troops continued to fight against the NLF, which easily outnumbered the South Vietnamese. As South Vietnam complained that there were too many troops, Rice Patty ran towards the helicopter as the American troop distracted the NLF, and he soon followed suit. Although shot multiple times, he managed to make it on board. However, his wounds became too much for him, and he died on board. As retaliation, Rice Patty shot rapid fire at the NLF.
Back at the base, South Vietnam, Rice Patty, and the news reporter mourned the loss of the fallen American troop as the US arrives. After the US decided to continue bombing North Vietnam until he agreed to peace terms, the news reporter took photos of the fallen American.
Back in the American military base in Saigon, the US decided to reopen peace negotiations, but South Vietnam worried that North VIetnam might not call due to the bombings. The US assured South Vietnam that North Vietnam would call due to the death toll caused by the bombings. Just then, the phone rung, and he picked it up, with North Vietnam being on the other end of the line. With the death toll too great, North Vietnam agreed to recognize the South, and the US agreed that the NLF can remain if no North Vietnamese reinforcements join them. North Vietnam and the US finally reached a peace agreement, with the US having agreed to withdraw from the war.
In March 1973, the US did what it promised to North Vietnam; withdraw form the war. American troops began to load up planes as the US sighed in relief that the war was finally over for them, although the news were less positive, with reporters complaining about the massive death toll on both sides needed to open negotiations. South Vietnam was less optimistic, saying that he needed lots of guns despite feeling prepared, but the US assured South Vietnam continued support as he boarded the plane as well. Just as the planes departed, the news reported about the withdrawal.
One year later, South Vietnam called American president Richard Nixon, complaining that despite the peace talks, North Vietnam attacked South Vietnam again. South Vietnam complained about inflation, unemployment, and losses in battles, and that he needed more guns and reinforcements. Due to the ongoing Watergate Scandal causing controversy around Nixon, he had problems of his own, and also needed to cut military spending. Nixon hung up, much to South Vietnam's dismay.
North Vietnam proposed a plan to China and the Soviet Union about taking South Vietnam, who agree to help him, although they do bring up that South Vietnam wouldn't fall apart completely. Due to the US no longer participating, though, they figured an attack would be easy. North Vietnam launched an attack to capture Saigon, with NLF troops closing in from the south, and an attack on Da Nang left many South Vietnamese troops dead, with South Vietnam cursing the US for withdrawing. As South Vietnam fled, North Vietnam troops captured Da Nang, as the remaining South Vietnamese troops also fled the city.
South Vietnam made his way back to the military base in Saigon, where he decided to evacuate, but he didn't know where. Just then, a bomb exploded behind the base, and the American news reporters reported that South Vietnam was at the verge of collapse without American military aid, which made its way into many American households, just as another explosion knocked the reporters out. Nixon, watching the event, saw that Saigon had fallen to both North Vietnamese and NLF troops. As North Vietnam celebrated, he headed inside the military base.
On a plane, South Vietnam slowly descended into a village of South Vietnamese refugees creating a new home after their homeland was taken by the communists. Even they were not safe from the communist takeover, however; every South Vietnamese refugee became Vietnamese, but they accept their fates and that life continues on.
