Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC)

The Accessibility Advisory Committee oversees legal compliance related to accessible technologies and RTC’s web presence. The committee also helps to promote campus-wide accessibility knowledge and skills and recognition of the importance of accessible materials. Contact Christie Fierro, cfierro@rtc.edu

Assessment Committee

How do we know our students are learning? How can we improve the learning process? The Assessment Committee provides workshops, templates, and guidelines to increase success in the learning process and meet accreditation standards. Contact Jichul Kim, jkim@rtc.edu

College Council

The College Council at Renton Technical College was established to provide an opportunity for all constituencies of the College to participate in the process of shared governance.

The College Council is a recommending body to the President’s Executive Cabinet. The work of the Council focuses on a range of areas that may include, but is not limited to: college planning efforts, institutional accreditation monitoring, college effectiveness, strategic initiatives, and special projects. Meets Mondays, 2:30 to 3:30pm, usually the third week of the month but this can vary

Curriculum Committee

It is the mission of the Renton Technical College Curriculum Committee to: Review instructional issues, approve curricular offerings of the College, and make recommendations as to compliance with the vision mission, and goals of the college thereby preserving institutional integrity.

We generally meet 2:30-3:30 p.m. in C105 the second Thursday of each month. Contact Ryan Hoaglin, rhoaglin@rtc.edu

Data Integrity Group

The purpose of RTC’s Data Integrity Group (DIG) is to promote shared accountability among key stakeholders of data. The plan relies upon a collaborative team representing key administrative offices that help ensure data is collected, measured, and reported in an accurate and consistent manner. Data integrity initiatives support a culture of evidence by identifying key data measures and ensuring accurate and consistent production, input, and reporting of these measures. Data integrity is an on-going process that will continue to play an integral role in all departments and divisions of the college.

Diversity Equity and Inclusion Council (DEIC)

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council (DEIC) will develop the campus plan and policies related to diversity, equity and inclusion; set response priorities for diversity, equity and inclusion issues on campus; and advocate for the resolution of diversity, equity and inclusion issues on campus.

Facilities Council

The Facilities Council will develop, review, and evaluate plans and policies and set directions for facilities in accordance with the mission, vision, values, core theme objectives, and strategic priorities of the College. Contact Jacob Jackson, jacob.jackson@rtc.edu

Faculty and Staff of Color Network

The Faculty and Staff of Color Network was created to provide a forum for networking, support, and mentorship for employees who identify as persons of color. Current or new employees to the College who are interested in joining the group can email us at fscn@rtc.edu or stop in to say hi during one of our events.

Guided Pathways Instruction Committee

The Guided Pathways Instruction Committee (GPIC) is a group of dedicated faculty and/or faculty counselors/librarians who ensure the completion of all instruction-related outcomes of the Guided Pathways framework and work plan. Under the supervision of the GP leadership team, committee members work on projects as dictated by the current year’s work plan, such as exploratory experiences, curricula, and classes; program maps; math and English pathways; faculty training; and student focus groups. The GPIC also assists with annual reporting requirements.

Assess instructional and learning support policies and procedures, and make recommendations to the College Council that are in alignment with the College’s core themes and accreditation standards.

The Lavender Network

The Lavender Network seeks to educate, inspire, support, encourage, and mentor faculty and staff who identify among the LGBTQ+ communities. This is an affinity group established for transgender, intersex, asexual, pansexual, bisexual, queer, questioning, lesbian, gay, and similarly-identifying faculty and staff at Renton Technical College.

Non-Traditional Students Committee

The Non-Traditional Students Committee discusses ways to encourage women to enter traditionally male-dominated fields and men to consider traditionally female-dominated fields. Contact Mitzi Philpott, mphilpott@rtc.edu

OER Steering Group

The Open Education Resources (OER) Steering Group at Renton Technical College invites students, faculty members and administrators to work together as we choose a culture of innovative instruction that leads students to complete their education with both quality and equity. We will increase student learning opportunities by embracing a culture of Open in all levels of our institution.

Professional Development Committee

This committee helps plan and coordinate both the fall faculty in-service and the year-long related PD activities. It also is looking to find ways to increase both faculty and staff PD and promote documentation. Contact Christie Fierro, cfierro@rtc.edu if you would like to join.

Program Review Committee

Spring Quarter 2022: We are updating our program review process for ease of use and alignment with Guided Pathways. We will need faculty from each area of study for the new Program Review Committee; this committee will meet several times each quarter and be integral to the new process. Technology Council

The Technology Council will develop, review, and evaluate a college technology strategic plan and technology policies in accordance with the mission, vision, values, core theme objectives, and strategic priorities of the College. Tenure Steering Committee

The RTC Tenure process is one of supported growth, ensuring that new faculty can meet RTC’s standards for ongoing teaching practices that support equity and student success. The Renton Technical College Tenure Steering Committee (TSC) is a shared governance, campus-wide representative committee that oversees the consistent application of the tenure review process and monitors compliance with corresponding RCW, WAC and established policies and procedures of the College. The TSC meets every month on the 2nd Monday, 7:00 - 8:30 am: They also organize occasional openings for tenured faculty. Contact Stephanie Delaney, sdelaney@rtc.edu

Whites for Accountability

White people are responsible for their own racial and social justice learning. The Whites for Accountability group provides a place for white staff and faculty to engage in difficult conversations about race with the intention of unburdening our students and colleagues of color from needing to educate us. We are a learning community centered on education and holding each other accountable in working to dismantle white supremacy at Renton Technical College and in our greater community.
