RTC Guides for New & Returning Faculty
All employee Canvas accounts are manually created.
To request an employee Canvas account, email eLearning@RTC.edu to provide the following:
Full Name
School Identification Number (SID#)
Active email address
All employees are added to the Access for All course
Faculty are provided a Practice Course
All student Canvas accounts are automatically created upon course registration via Canvas/SMS (Student management System) integration.
Students are automatically enrolled in the Getting Started course. Students can also "self-enroll" in this course through the link provided via the:
Student Resources page
a course's welcome page
start of quarter link on their Canvas Dashboard
To login to your Renton Technical College (RTC) Canvas account we always advise using a laptop or desktop computer and the Chrome browser for the most optimal Canvas experience using. Here are your RTC Canvas login steps and credentials:
Canvas Login Page = https://rtc.edu/canvas - or - https://rtc.instructure.com
Canvas Username = Your 9-digit School Identification Number (SID#), no spaces or hyphens
Canvas Default Password = Your default password is the first 8 letters of your last name. Repeat your last name if fewer than 8 letters until you get to 8 letters. No spaces, hyphens, or apostrophes.
Once successfully logged in, change your password via your Canvas Account > Settings to something that can't be easily guessed.
