It was great seeing so many of you at Mission Bay last Thursday for Ozzie’s presentation on Mindful Walking. It is hard to believe this is the last week of our summer session. My thanks to each of you for your support and participation in this summer’s RSD classes.

Join us this morning with learning what has been happening in Paris as they prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympics. As stated above, the 2024 Paris Olympics officially get underway this Friday, July 26 with the opening ceremony at 7:30 p.m. ET (4:30 PST) on NBC. The Paralympic Games Paris 2024 are from August 28 to September 8, 2024, with over 11 days of competition.
The class will end with a PowerPoint with photos from the Pacific Northwest.

I am looking forward to our onsite guided tour on Tuesday. As explained below, the tour includes a golf cart that seats seven people if you prefer riding in a golf cart.

This Week
Tuesday: Join us for a guided tour with our docent, Stephanie, to view and experience what is happening at the Chula Vista Elite Athletic Training Center as the athletes are preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics. This onsite tour (Part 2) follows Part 1 on May 23, 2024, which was on Zoom. Onsite (Bronze Tour @ $10).
If possible, meet onsite at the Visitor’s Center’s Team Center (near the entrance) at 9:45 AM so the guided tour can leave at 10:00 AM. The tour includes a golf cart that seats seven people if you prefer riding in a golf cart.

Note: When using your GPS for directions, do not pass the entrance and turn onto Wueste Road. You will have gone too far as Wueste Road is two signals past the main entrance.

In my travels, I picked up a virus which (according to my doctor) turned into a respiratory infection. I get tired a little faster so you may experience me going a little shower (and quieter!) when facilitating this week’s discussions.
This Week
-Tuesday: David Marshall, Preservation Architect, will focus on his present and upcoming projects as a Preservation Architect. He will also share his thoughts and experience (as a Preservation Architect) of the architecture of the Salk Institute. We appreciate the presentation by Luciano’s and David’s friend, Architect Chuck Kaminski, who shared his knowledge and experience about the Salk Institute last semester. I especially appreciated the beautiful sunset photos of the Salk Institute included in his PowerPoint. We will end with Q&A and sharing by the class as we continue to expand our knowledge of the Salk Institute.

Welcome! I will be sharing information about my online course this Tuesday and Thursday. Many of you are returning students. Others are BRAND NEW. I look forward to meeting each of you!
I understand that there were some people who did not receive this email, so I am sending it out again. I made a few edits. This includes a description of our topics for next week as well as the attached calendar. Please note that the calendar is subject to change as I continue to assess your interest in these topics and presentations!

I will start this Tuesday & Thursday by going over the course and the class website. Prior to posting the summer calendar, I will use this first week to get your interest in topics and tours I have planned. Some of you will want to know more details of what is ahead; others only want to know the date, time, topic, & link to Zoom. I’ll add details based on your interests.
I recently returned from a tour of the Pacific Northwest (Portland, Seattle, Victoria, and Vancouver) and look forward to sharing information, photos, and guest presenters that include the Pacific Northwest.
-Tuesday: Mike McMahon will join us as a guest presenter sharing photos and stories from his recent trip to France.
-Thursday: I’ll share the Calendar and RSD Website an overview of our summer topics and tours, the beginning of Fall registration, as well as a PowerPoint presentation of my recent tour of the Pacific Northwest.
