Course Goals
1. Gain awareness of current information essential for evaluating and maintaining optimal health and quality of life for persons over 55 years of age.
2. Learn guidelines and activities designed for preventive health care.
3. Gain an understanding of psychological and physical age-related conditions and age-related diseases and disabilities.
4. Learn the importance of developing and implementing a health plan.
This course is designed to enhance the health of older adults. Instruction includes activities and research on cognitive strategies, physical movements, and social/emotional support, and financial resources to improve one’s quality of life. A variety of information, social networks, and community resources will be identified to strengthen, maintain, and incorporate these self-management skills, preventative health practices, and activities of daily living into wellness skills, health routines, and lifestyle habits with ease and enjoyment! The class is open to anyone interested in applying evidence-based research and wellness skills for improving the quality of their life.
Presentations and discussions on Relaxation & Mindfulness Health Practices for Healthy Living are provided weekly.
