Click Tanzania National Parks to view a map of the above parks in East Africa.
See below for some of my favorite photos!
Majestic Old Lion - This was one of the first lions I saw in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. He had many fights under his belt. I got to see all the scars and flies on his face. I was moved to tears. >View The Ngorongoro Crater (1:45).
Wildebeests - During their big annual migration in the Serengeti National Park from the south to west and then north, towards the Mara River, at the border with Kenya.
Crocodile: Laying in waiting for the Wildebeests to cross this crocodile-infested river.
>To learn more about this annual migration, view The Serengeti Wildebeest Migration Explained | Expert Africa (4:21)
Rufiji River: Flying over Rufiji River
Click Selous Game Reserve (1:10).
The elephants in this video are crossing
a channel of the Rufiji River.
Hippos: Mother & baby hippo resting/crossing the river together.
Impalas - Also called "McDonald" antelopes, because of the black arch on their rump.
Leopard - 'Chui' or 'Chewy' in Swahili.
>Click on a list of Safari Animal Names in Swahili. I learned around 20 of these names!

Warthog - We saw a lot of them as a group with their babies.
Giraffes - 'A Tower of Giraffes' means 'stationary' vs. 'A Journey of Giraffes' when a group is moving.
Dik-dik - The cute face with huge eyes is a dik-dik. One of the smallest antelopes. Dik-dik is named for the females' alarm calls who whistle through their long and tubular snouts to alert others about predators. They are very shy; this was the only one we saw during the entire safari.
Lion Cub - This cute lion cub was trying desperately to climb up - to where his mother was!
Topis - A highly social and fast type of medium size antelope found in Africa. They have beautiful shiny coats, with amazing shades of brown.
Leopard - A close-up of a leopard.
Hyena - They love to bath (and stay) in mud if they can find an area.
Rhinos - A group of 4 black rhinos. They are very endangered and very rarely seen in such a large group. Our guide, a Massai, told us he’s never seen 4 rhinos together.
Baboons
Zebras: On the road together.
Cheetah: The only cheetah we saw during our Safari; hiding from us in tall grasses in Serengeti.
Elephant: Young elephant in aggressive posture.
Mara River: Sunset on the Tanzania banks of the Mara River, the border with Kenya
Rufiji River: Sunset on the Rufiji River. Notice the 2 stars.

How many of you are ready for a nap as well?! :)
Gabrielle: Eating "ugali" (local food). A good memory of this "Trip of a Lifetime!"
Thanks to Gabrielle for the heart-felt work
she put into sharing her enjoyment of this safari with you!
