§ Take I-8 to Lake Murray Blvd. exit. Turn north onto Lake Murray Blvd.
§ Proceed up the hill for 0.5 miles. Look for the Starbucks on the left side.(On the corner of Lake Murray Blvd. & Kiowa Drive).
§ Turn left (at the Starbucks) onto Kiowa Drive.
§ The entrance is 0.2 miles down Kiowa Drive.
§ The road will curve to the right.

Mike McMahon is from Carlsbad and may be able to join us later with our class. Here's a few of his lunch recommendations from up in his part of North County:
1) Fidel's Norte (760) 729-0903- Downtown Carlsbad where Carlsbad Village Drive intersects the Coast Highway. . Very popular for Mexican food. Very short walk to the Sea Wall - a nice walking area along the beach for post-lunch strolls. https://norterestaurant.com/
2) Corner Bakery Cafe - Across the street from the Premium Outlet Mall (near the flower fields). Individual order and pay...they deliver to your seat. Salads and sandwiches for lunch.
3) BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse - Also across from the Premium Outlet Mall. Conventional seating.
When up that way, I also enjoy:
Ki's Restaurant (Across from the Chart House. Overlooks the ocean and lagoon). 2591 S Coast Highway, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Encinitas, CA 92007. Read the review by Trip Advisor.
While enjoying the food, you can enjoy the view of the ocean as well as the lagoon. Unfortunately, high tide is around 3PM so there's less sand for a walk along the beach, but you can still enjoy the ocean view and drive along Hwy 101.
For me...there's usually a quick stop at the Rancho Coastal Thrift Store in Cardiff! (Gotta support funds for the Rancho Coastal Humane Society!)

Hi everyone,
The main Lake Murray Regional Park trail head address is 5540 Kiowa Drive, La Mesa, CA 91942. This is the primary access point for the Lake Murray Path where we will go for a walk.

Directions from Interstate 8:
Take I-8 to Lake Murray Blvd. exit. Turn north onto Lake Murray Blvd.
Proceed up the hill for 0.5 miles. Look for the Starbucks on the left side.
(On the corner of Lake Murray Blvd. & Kiowa Drive).
Turn left (at the Starbucks) onto Kiowa Drive.
The entrance is 0.2 miles down Kiowa Drive.
The road will curve to the right.
Look for the parking lot and concession stand on the left (next to the lake).
Turn left into the parking lot.
Meet us by the picnic tables next to the concession stand.

Our guest presenter, Marci, is not feeling well. I will reschedule her doing a class with us on rock painting in the future!
We are lucky that your RSD classmate, Marcella, has volunteered to bring materials and demonstrate making one or two arrangements of the Japanese Art of Flower Arrangements which is also called Ikebana. This is a beautiful artwork with flowers and items from nature that both Marcella and her sister have refined.
I am planning on bringing a small branch with pine cones on it to see if Marcella could add it to her demonstration. You are welcome to bring any flowers or items in nature that you think Marcella could use as well. In addition, we may add items we find as we walk around Lake Murray. Both Marcella and her sister are very talented in this Japanese Art of Flower Arrangements.
