Reminisce and review life development from “ancestry through maturity.” Join others online to effectively communicate life stories verbally and non-verbally by writing and/or by sharing life stories focusing on your life, someone you know, or a topic of interest. This course provides information and tools related to interpersonal communication skills – verbal and non-verbal – needed for meaningful dialogue at home, work, and leisure time. It is designed for all individuals who wish to enhance their self-knowledge and develop more effective interpersonal communication skills with verbal and non-verbal creative self-expression.
Course Goals: Students will learn ways to effectively communicate in order to improve their relationships and their standards of living.
1. Students will be introduced to a body of knowledge and develop skills that will help improve and increase communication.
2. Students will learn about how to communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds and appreciate a diversity of opinions.
3. Students will learn to communicate facts, ideas, and feelings clearly, using verbal and non-verbal techniques and in a manner that will elicit reciprocal exchanges of information.
4. Students will demonstrate how to use technology to help improve communication skills, including internet applications and web-based tools.
