Pur Umeed Zindagi (PUZ) is an inclusive, community‑centered mental health program designed to respond to the diverse psychological and emotional needs of individuals and families across Pakistan. The program is open to anyone seeking support for mental and emotional well‑being, with a specific focus on reducing barriers related to cost, stigma, and access to care.

PUZ services are available to:

Individuals Experiencing Emotional or Psychological Distress

This includes people facing stress, anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, grief, or adjustment difficulties related to personal, family, social, or economic challenges. Individuals do not need a prior diagnosis to seek help; early concerns are taken seriously and addressed through screening, counseling, and follow‑up support.

Patients and Attendants within Indus Hospital & Health Network

PUZ extends its services to patients receiving care at IHHN facilities as well as their family members and attendants, recognizing that illness, caregiving responsibilities, and hospital environments can significantly impact mental well‑being.

Adults, Adolescents, and Families

The program supports adults, adolescents, and family systems, acknowledging that mental health concerns often affect individuals within the context of their families and relationships. Family‑based counseling and psychoeducation are offered where appropriate to promote shared understanding and recovery.

Individuals Seeking Early Screening and Preventive Support

PUZ encourages individuals who may not yet be experiencing severe symptoms to access early screening services. Identifying concerns at an early stage allows timely intervention, reduces the risk of worsening symptoms, and supports long‑term emotional resilience.

People from Underserved and Low‑Resource Communities

Special emphasis is placed on reaching underserved populations, including those living in rural areas or facing socio‑economic challenges. Through community‑based sites and outreach activities, PUZ ensures that mental health care is not limited by geography, income, or social status.

Individuals Facing Crisis or Increased Vulnerability

PUZ also supports individuals experiencing heightened vulnerability, such as exposure to trauma, displacement, medical illness, caregiving stress, or major life transitions. These individuals may receive counseling, Psychological First Aid, or referral for specialized services as needed.

Anyone Seeking Safe, Confidential, and Ethical Mental Health Care

At its core, PUZ is for anyone who feels they need emotional support and is seeking care delivered with respect, dignity, confidentiality, and compassion—without fear of judgment or discrimination.

Commitment to Access and Equity

All PUZ services are provided free of cost, ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent individuals from receiving care. The program is grounded in principles of equity, inclusivity, and ethical practice, making mental health support accessible to all, regardless of background or circumstances.

By creating an open and supportive pathway to care, Pur Umeed Zindagi ensures that help is available to anyone who needs it—at the right time, in the right place, and with the right support.
