Pur Umeed Zindagi (PUZ) is deeply committed to protecting the privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of every individual accessing its mental health and psychosocial services. All services are delivered within a safe, respectful, and ethical healthcare environment in accordance with the policies of the Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN).
All personal and clinical information shared during screening, counseling, therapy, and follow‑up sessions is treated as strictly confidential. Information is collected only for the purpose of providing appropriate care, ensuring continuity of services, and improving service quality.
PUZ follows a clear process of informed consent before enrollment, assessment, counseling, therapy, referrals, or participation in research or training activities. Individuals are informed about how their information will be used and their rights regarding their data.
Client information, including screening results and clinical notes, is securely stored and accessed only by authorized mental health professionals involved in care delivery or supervision. Appropriate safeguards are in place to prevent unauthorized access, misuse, or disclosure of data.
Information is not shared with third parties without the individual’s consent, except when:
Referral to another healthcare service is required for clinical reasons
There is a serious risk of harm to the individual or others
Disclosure is required by law or mandated by competent authorities
In all cases, only the minimum necessary information is shared, and confidentiality is maintained to the greatest extent possible.
Additional safeguards are applied for:
Children and adolescents, with appropriate parental/guardian consent
Survivors of trauma or violence, ensuring survivor‑centered and sensitive handling
Individuals receiving addiction‑related services, with enhanced confidentiality measures
PUZ upholds the principles of respect, non‑discrimination, and cultural sensitivity. Every individual has the right to receive mental health care without fear, judgment, or stigma.
All PUZ staff, including Mental Health Officers, psychologists, supervisors, and trainees, are bound by professional codes of ethics, institutional policies, and confidentiality agreements. Regular supervision and training ensure adherence to high ethical standards.
