Psalm 44:23-26
Awaken O' LORD
23 Awake, Lord! Why do you sleep?
Rouse yourself! Do not reject us forever.
24 Why do you hide your face
and forget our misery and oppression?
25 We are brought down to the dust;
our bodies cling to the ground.
26 Rise up and help us;
rescue us because of your unfailing love.
The Psalmist asks two good questions...Why does God seem to be asleep?...Why does God seem to hide His face?...
Why isn’t God more obvious?....Why does He remain silent for very long periods of time?...Why does God stay hidden?...It has been two thousand years since His Son walked among us...Wouldn’t it be great if God would show Himself to all of us, as He did Job many years ago?...Why doesn’t He want everyone to know about Himself, and the Good News He sent His Son to tell the world about...
If God were less obvious and talking to the world today, then all would share in the belief in God...He would be a Major Topic of Discussion, if not the Topic of Discussion...But He is not obvious...He is more hidden and subtle, even to the Psalmist many, many years ago...
Is there this love in absence?...And is there more love in staying absent?...Is there great love in being silent for long periods of time?...Does God’s absence mean we will seek Him more and better and love Him more?...
