Of David.
1 Vindicate me, Lord,
for I have led a blameless life;
I have trusted in the Lord
and have not faltered.
2 Test me, Lord, and try me,
examine my heart and my mind;
3 for I have always been mindful of your unfailing love
and have lived in reliance on your faithfulness.
4 I do not sit with the deceitful,
nor do I associate with hypocrites.
5 I abhor the assembly of evildoers
and refuse to sit with the wicked.
6 I wash my hands in innocence,
and go about your altar, Lord,
7 proclaiming aloud your praise
and telling of all your wonderful deeds.
8 Lord, I love the house where you live,
the place where your glory dwells.
9 Do not take away my soul along with sinners,
my life with those who are bloodthirsty,
10 in whose hands are wicked schemes,
whose right hands are full of bribes.
11 I lead a blameless life;
deliver me and be merciful to me.
12 My feet stand on level ground;
in the great congregation I will praise the Lord.
David very much would write what was on his mind and in his thoughts, while writing the Psalms...
For the past ten years and long after the Psalmists, behavior doctors have found that there is a healing process in reflective writing...There is this healing in reflecting on your inner self, and what is going through your mind and what you are thinking about...It is good to know that you know what your thoughts are, what your body sensations are, and what you are feeling emotionally...And writing about these feelings and thoughts and putting them down on paper makes you feel better...And in reflective writing we can often see ourselves more clearly...
As I first read through the Psalms, I thought much about David (and the other Psalmists), and what he (and also the other writers) was writing about...Many times he seemed angered and mad...Sometimes frightened...At other times he seems frustrated...At times he seems frozen in what to do...And then there are great times of joy...And then there are many times in David’s writing about the Glory of God...God hears much from David about what he is feeling in his inner self, and God hears what is going on in David’s mind, and what he is mindful of...And David even says test me, LORD, and try me, examine my heart and my mind; for I have always been mindful of Your unfailing LOVE and have lived in reliance on Your faithfulness...
David was writing to God and about God...David honestly wrote what he felt, and he felt better and happier knowing His Father was listening to him...David had this great gratitude for God and praised Him often...
