Of David. A psalm.
1 The Lord says to my lord:
“Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet.”
2 The Lord will extend your mighty scepter from Zion, saying,
“Rule in the midst of your enemies!”
3 Your troops will be willing
on your day of battle.
Arrayed in holy splendor,
your young men will come to you
like dew from the morning’s womb.
4 The Lord has sworn
and will not change his mind:
“You are a priest forever,
in the order of Melchizedek.”
5 The Lord is at your right hand;
he will crush kings on the day of his wrath.
6 He will judge the nations, heaping up the dead
and crushing the rulers of the whole earth.
7 He will drink from a brook along the way,
and so he will lift his head high.
In David's Psalm we might believe he is talking about Jesus, who would not come to earth for many years to come...Yet, it seems that David knows Him and is talking to Him and has a relationship with Him...David writes the Lord says to my LORD: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”...The LORD will extend your mighty scepter from Zion, saying, “Rule in the midst of your enemies!”...
Jesus would rule one day and not only in Zion, but also the entire world...He then would rule forever....Jesus LOVES His enemies...And although the world did not recognize Him when He walked the earth, after His resurrection the world took not of Him, and many believed in Him...In fact, many still believe today...And His believers must believe that the way to the cross is through suffering...Just as He did on the cross...And as we suffer, and we might suffer in different forms, we can be His disciples, and apostles, and help others discover Him as David did and as we have...In the midst of suffering we can help others get closer to Him...In the absolute midst of His suffering and those who nailed Him to the cross (His enemies) He rescued the world...He saved all sinners...
